keywords meta tag is dead but...
It's widely echoing about the web world that keywords meta tag means nothing now, but is it really true? I understand it has lost its importance but I believe it cannot be ignored. After some experience with it and talking with some experienced friends, I've come to the conclusion that though it holds little importance, it does help in strengthening your position on a search engine. Here are some tips on using this tag:
1. Embed the keywords tag with your main keywords in your template.
2. Use different keywords for each post. Just put the html part in the post itself. This would help different pages of your site rank well for their particular keywords.
3. Don't use more than 5 keywords at a time.
4. Use it just once for each page.
5. Prefer to put it in the Head section of your pages.
Also, this tag helps in recognising your content more clearly resulting in more targeted visitors. For example, I rank very well for voice recognition and supplementary results on Google and as you must imagine, I have been using these words in my keywords tag.
The conclusion is, it serves as a complimentary force to SEO. It does help you rank better, so don't ignore it. 12/19/08 by Naveen Delete
