Google sandbox

If you search for the sites linking to my blog right now on Google, you'll notice that Google shows only 7 sites linking to this blog whereas the actual number is 276 backlinks. Then why doesn’t Google show the correct result? The answer lies in Google sandbox. Note: Though there are some people who say that the Google Sandbox dosen't exist, most people (incuding me) believe that it does. First of all, what is Google Sandbox? Newly created websites are often not ranked very well on Google even when they have thousands of backlinks. They may not be given a good pagerank and most importantly, they only get traffic from less competitive searches. Such websites are said to be in the Google Sandbox. It is just a way of stopping new untrusted sites from gaining remarkable search engine rankings. Also, it only happens in Google, not in any other search engine. I'm in the Google sandbox: This explains why my site only ranks well for less competitive searches and why Google only shows 7 backlinks to my site instead of 276 (according to technorati). If your site is facing similar conditions in Google, chances are that your site too is in the Google Sandbox. How to get out of it: There's no particular way of getting out of it, though there are some measures you could take. If you are already in the Google Sandbox, you could take the following measures:

1. Get backlinks from old and high pagerank sites.

2. Get listed in trusted Web Directories like DMOZ.

3. Stop acquiring new backlinks until you get out of it.

4. Stay away from paid advertising. Once you're into it, getting out is difficult. But there sure are some ways in which you can prevent your new websites from getting into the Google sandbox. here they are:

1. Acquire new backlinks very slowly. If you start getting backlinks all of a sudden, chances are that you'll be thrown into the sandbox. This is exactly the mistake that I made.

2. If you have to get backlinks, try older sites with a high pagerank.

3. Again, stay away from paid advertising initially.

4. Steadily and slowly increase your pace of getting new backlinks.

5. Hope for the best :-)
